Size guide
Our pieces come from different brands, countries and decades, so the label isn't always the full story. That's why every VELT piece is measured by hand.
The quickest way to find your fit
- Take a piece you own that fits the way you like.
- Lay it flat on a table, smooth it out, and measure it the way we do (below).
- Compare your numbers with the measurements on the listing. Within 1–2 cm is a close match.
Our measurements are taken flat, edge to edge. For the full way round (circumference), double the chest, waist and hip figures.
How we measure
- Chest
- Armpit to armpit, across the front, laid flat.
- Shoulder
- Shoulder seam to shoulder seam, across the back.
- Sleeve
- Shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.
- Length
- Tops: highest point of the shoulder to the hem. Bottoms: waistband to hem, down the outside leg.
- Waist
- Across the top of the waistband, laid flat and buttoned.
- Hips
- Across the widest point of the seat, laid flat.
- Inseam
- Crotch seam to the hem, along the inside leg.
Letter sizes, roughly
A typical guide to body measurements behind letter sizes. Treat it as a starting point; the listing's measurements are what count.
| Size | Chest (body, cm) | Waist (body, cm) |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 86–91 | 71–76 |
| S | 91–97 | 76–81 |
| M | 97–102 | 81–86 |
| L | 102–107 | 86–91 |
| XL | 107–112 | 91–97 |
| 2XL | 112–117 | 97–102 |
| 3XL | 117–122 | 102–107 |
Trousers, jeans and shorts are listed by waist size in inches where the label shows it (e.g. 32), or as waist × leg (e.g. 32×30).
